LET US KNOW!! if you want an FOA Inspection site in your area!

Coming Soon: FF affiliated 2007 Inspection Tour Dates

We will inspect horses registered with FOA, FSHR or the Moresian Registry for members in good standing of any of those registries. For an FOA horse to be inspected, the FOA membership must be up to date and the horse registration process begun, with all fees paid. Microchipping and DNA typing can be completed after inspection.

We will happily inspect horses of any age but FOA horses do not have to be inspected prior to their second year (partbred) or third year (purebred).

Purebred horses will be inspected according to the Friesian Breed standard. Partbreds will be inspected with the Friesian influence in mind but are not penalized for deviations from the breed standard. Good conformation and movement are the most important attributes for both partbreds and purebreds.

Don't see an inspection in your area? Are you an FOA member, or do you have a horse registered with one of the Federated Friesian registries and want an inspection? TELL US NOW!! We won't know if you don't tell us! We need a minimum of FOUR horses at a site to get a judge to you. Get together with your friends, breeders etc and let us know if we can serve you! Remember, it's about the horse!

The rules are as follows:

PUREBRED HORSES

1) If the horse is registered with us from birth, he/she must be inspected after the third year and before the sixth year.

2) If the horse is transferring from another registry, he/she must be inspected within three years of joining the registry.

For example, if you joined in 2002, the horse MUST be inspected in 2005. If the horse was first registered with us in 2005, it must be inspected in 2005, 2006, or 2007.

A mature horse already inspected by another registry may be simply presented, his or her identity verified, and viewed at liberty by the judges.

3) An uninspected horse is not eligible for any of the awards programs or accolades from FOA.

PARTBRED HORSES

The rules are the same except that partbreds may be inspected as early as their second year (or even earlier if you desire), since partbreds often mature earlier.

If your horse has not yet been microchipped and you would like to have that done at the inspection, you MUST ABSOLUTELY MUST notify the host well in advance. ONLY a vet can insert a microchip.

All horses must have valid Coggins tests (bring the paper) and additional vaccinations as required by each individual inspection host.

Ster performance testing under saddle is available, for both Purebreds and Partbreds, for an additional $50.00 charge. Prior arrangement must be made. Ster performance testing requires the horse to perform movements equivalent to USDF training level test four.

We strongly urge that you register for the inspections in advance. Why?

  • IT IS CHEAPER FOR YOU.
  • It will avoid disappointment.

We have no way of knowing how many horses will show up at each venue except from advance registration. If there are not enough advance registrations at one venue, we will cancel the inspection there. Also, if there are only a few horses the inspection may be over early in the morning & the judge on the way back to the airport. WE DO NOT WANT YOU TO HAUL YOUR HORSE TO AN INSPECTION SITE ONLY TO FIND EVERYONE HAS LEFT.
